It is natural for the tissue on the bottom of your feet to feel less supportive as you age, because of collagen loss. Sculptra® injections and Leneva injections provide a minimally invasive treatment option with results that can last up to two years. Dr. Herzog & Dr. Pollard are pleased to provide these injections at Castle Rock Foot & Ankle Care in Castle Rock, Colorado. To book an appointment, call the practice or use the online scheduler.
Fat Pad Injections
How does aging affect foot tissue?
As you age, the elastin and collagen on the bottoms of your feet wear down and become thinner. This tissue thinning can also come about from wearing high heels, running, or playing sports for years.
How can Sculptra and Leneva injections help?
Sculptra is a safe and biocompatible substance used to restore your skin’s softness and suppleness. Sculptra, also known as Poly-L-lactic acid, is a synthetic filler which your body absorbs naturally. Doctors have used this substance for quite some time in dissolvable stitches. Your doctor injects it just below your skin through a tiny needle. While Sculptra is often used as a dermal filler to add volume or reduce other signs of aging in the face, it can help restore tissues below your feet, too.
Leneva is an all-natural fat pad supplement made from sterile human derived adipose tissue. It is intended to induce your own body to create more fat cells, which aids in extra cushioning in the foot.
How long does it take to work?
After your treatment, results will appear gradually. If you don’t see a significant difference right away, that’s normal and not a cause for worry. It may take several days or a couple of weeks to notice an improvement. The results of your injections can last for up to two years, but on average will last approximately one year. At that point, you can schedule additional treatments, as you need them.
Can anyone have Sculptra or Leneva treatments?
Almost anyone with a healthy immune system can benefit from Sculptra and Leneva, but you should avoid it if you have an allergy to any of its ingredients. Be sure to talk to the doctors about your health history before having the treatment.
Are there any side effects?
Most side effects of Sculptra are mild and short-lived and may include bruising, pain, redness, tenderness, swelling, or bleeding at the injection site. You may also have some noticeable lumps under your skin right after your injections. Apply a cold-wrapped, ice pack to the treated area for a few minutes if you experience discomfort shortly after your treatment. You can also massage your feet for about five minutes per day for five days or so after your injections.
How many Injections will I need?
The number of Sculptra injections you need depends on the overall state of your foot tissue. Dr. Herzog, Dr. Carrington or Dr. Stone will examine your feet to help determine your ideal treatment regimen. Sculptra costs $600 per injection. Leneva costs $1500 per injection
